i have a Samsung Galaxy S,the first one, and it doesn't have instagram but i read that you can download instagram on google play store but when i try it says its no compatible with my phone, i tried doing an update on my phone so i can get the google play store but it doesn't work

If you just now set up this phone , you HAVE to have a gmail account to download apps . If you do already ,
Go to settings, applications, manage applications, press the all tab at the top and then scroll down to market. Clear data and cache and it should sort your problem.
