Problems with Facebook group?

I am an admin for a group, but I never have been before. When I go to the section "Add Members," I am prompted to search for new members to add. However, none pop up when I type a name in. Is it me? What am I doing wrong?

You can only do it for people who you're friend with.

you can only add people to the group who are in your friend list already. don't search with any name, just add from your friend list.
