http://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot? is the usual link (Password Helper), or on the sign-in page, click I cannot access my account or Forgot my password. More detail is below:

Go to the password sign-in problems page and follow the steps:
https://edit.yahoo.com/forgot?stage=fe10...y&partner=

*** Be sure to provide the same information you gave the last time you registered for a new Yahoo! ID or password or the last time you updated your account.

For a Yahoo account:
If you forgot your password, you can create a new one, but not retrieve an old one. For that, you would need to set a new password first, then change it back to the original one later. On the sign-in page, click I cannot access my account and Forgot my Password. Then you’ll have to provide the following information so Yahoo can confirm your identity: your Yahoo! ID, AND the active alternate email address or mobile phone number, AND the answers to your secret questions.
A Reset Your Password link will be sent to your alternate email address (or mobile phone). Click the link and enter your new password in the Reset your password page. If you do not see the e-mail in your alternate Inbox or mobile phone number, check in the Spam folder too. If you do not have a previously registered active alternate e-mail address or mobile phone number, you are out of luck, and will have to contact Yahoo by phone or e-mail, since Yahoo will have no way to contact you directly!

Then, change both password and secret questions to ones you can remember. A strong password should be more than 12 characters with mixed symbols - use a phrase or sentence you can remember, and make substitutions with numbers, punctuation and special symbols. The direct link to change your password is https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot/
Invent your own secret questions and answers - Yahoo allows you to do that so you can remember them - use the Update password-reset area. Be sure you have an alternate e-mail address listed too - just in case.
See http://strongpasswordgenerator.com/ for more tips on creating a strong password(and what NOT to use)
