Reasons for my dept to have social media page?

My dept is thinking of coming up with a social media page and i need to provide some reasons as to why we should have one. We arent selling anything, we're basically an office that people need to come through to get something they need/want. Many people would probably rather not deal with us. What would be the use of a facebook page to a dept like this?

In truth, it would have very little use at all other than for your fellow workers to use it.
