I hate Facebook as well, what a piece of **** (just my opinion!)

Social Networks:
Twitter - 500 M users
Google+ - 500 M users
Habbo - 268 M users
Bebo - 117 M users
MySpace - 30 M users

Other:
Skype - Something like 200 M - 400 M?

I myself recommend Skype because: easy to talk to your friends just speak and you don't have to be looking at a webpage so you can multitask with this e.g. play a game at the same time.
However if your walls are made of cardboard then other people may be able to here what you are saying and the audio can be poor at sometimes.

If you don't like Facebook for privacy problem than you use Twitter for complete privacy. But if you hate for function and features of Facebook than Google+ is best choice for connecting peoples and friends.

If you Dont Want to Use Facebook Try Using the Telephone Or Use a Different Network Although Most People Use Facebook Tho So it Would Probably Be Hard to Find Them on Any Other Social Network Site
