Title says it all, aside from the fact were really not friends anymore but aren't on bad terms. I've tried asking but they won't do it because they 'can't be bothered' and 'are on their phone'. I don't know what else I can do, the photos are extremely embarrassing.

Sorry man. Once pictures are on the internet it's forever. There's no telling if anyone has already saved it and uploaded it elsewhere.

There is a way you can take it down without their permission. I forget how you do it so I figure I am not much help. Here is a sight that might help:

You can try reporting the photo and claim you did not consent although not sure that will fly

You can try contacting Facebook and reporting the image as posted without your consent. I believe, legally, they have to remove it, regardless of whether it's your friends profile.

In the meantime, if they have 'tagged' you in the photo, simply view the photo and in the "People tagged in this photo" bit, delete the tag with your name. This will prevent it showing in photos of you.
Be aware next time and don't let people take pictures of you, without your permission.

Hover over the photo.
Select Report/Remove Tag from the dropdown menu.
Select I want to remove this tag.
You then have the option to remove the tag or message the person asking them to take it down Smile

If you need to escalate the issue, you can block the person who tagged you. If they still don't take it down, you can report it to Facebook and I think they can manually remove it!

I know how you feel, there's no fun in having embarrassing photos of yourself on Facebook Smile

Have you got an embarrassing photo of them? Or maybe you know something embarrassing about them? If i was you, i would simply threaten them by using something against them. Just tell them if they don't take the pictures down, you'll post the embarrassing picture of them up or tell everyone their secret or woteva
Most importantly, don't act like you're bothered otherwise they'll know you really care and will end up blackmailing you with it and will keep it up fot longer
Also, even if people make fun out of you because of these pictures, it won't last forever, people will move on and forget so don' worry.
Good luck

If your Friend is Refusing Report the Photo To Facebook Its Against the Rules to Not Take Down a Photo That Somebody Wants Taken Down Of Them

Depends on who owns the copyright of the photo.

If they are, then they are free to distribute and publish it where they like
and there is nothing you can do about it.

Providing the photos are not offensive or "likely to cause public outrage" as it
is called, FB will not take any action over them.

Not only that, as someone remarked, those photos are now in every search
engine cache and can be dug up with little difficulty.

No different to Celebs caught in embarrassing and compromising situations
and have their photos plastered over every newspaper in the world.

Nothing they can do about it.
