How to use social media? (Facebook/Twitter)?

I feel as though some people use it unprofessionally, while others keep it strictly business. I've noticed the ones who post too many unprofessional things are the people with nothing to lose. I realize everything you post you should act like the whole world knows it, however, where do you draw the line as in what's acceptable to post as a status and what's not?
