"Speaking of engaging with consumers, reconsider your approach to Facebook. I find it hard to believe that GM marketers cannot partner with Facebook management to create both paid and unpaid solutions that engage consumers on what is unquestionably the most effective social-media platform. I'm sure the Facebook leadership team values and understands the category. Seems pretty simple to me, and the amount being spent is minuscule as a percent of total measured media." Ads |

Your link is to the website of an auto industry magazine, and consists of a former GM executive offering marketing advice to GM. Facebook and other internet social media are simply part of any corporate marketing plan in today's world.
* Volt is not losing money. The recent Reuters article that proclaimed this made some very basic accounting errors. Development costs of a car are typically amortized over the lifetime of a vehicle, not just one year. Any car would look stupidly unprofitable if you did that. A rebuttal of the Reuter's article is at this link: * http://www.forbes.com/sites/boblutz/2012...olt-costs/ Ads |
