No really.. I'm forever amused by a strident right wing that snarks about social spending as they cash their SS checks and pay less for their medical benefits through their Medicare.

I want to see the government get its spending under control, and freebies are a big part of problem.

Free Market people have the intelligence to know that SSN and Medicare are paid through separate payroll taxes by the employees and employers and have been paying for those benefits through their entire careers.

This nation is spending far more money than it brings in. The vast majority of that money goes into social entitlement programs, it isn't hard for anyone to realize that spending must be cut.

I want no part of social security. Will you let me out? No. Well, as long as I'm REQUIRED to pay into, I expect to see something. Let me out. I'll gladly take my money and invest it elsewhere.

Free people can collective bargain and construct a few reasonable social safety nets.

SS checks and medical benefits through their Medicare are payed for by WORKERS. When you finally get a job if you get one actually, you will see those things taken out when you get your paycheck. And if your reaaaaaal lucky when you get old enough you can get that money you worked for back.
Why do Command system people think we should not be allowed to get back the money we spent 45 years paying. |

because they want to keep things the way they are - which is an unlevel playing field.
some are born rich whilst others are born poor - regardless of talent. which one do you think has the advantage in a capitalist society? |

We haven't participated in SS and Medicare by choice. It was forced on us and since it was, I'm sure you won't object if we use the power of government to recover what we were forced to pay into the system, plus what we could have earned on that income outside the system, to take what you earn for ourselves.
So, thank you very much for your "contributions" and support of the system and for giving me the "power" to legally take what you earn for my use. As long as the government lets me, I promise to leave enough for you to get by, but barely. |
