Why not just grab a copy of Open Office? Not just an app, it's a full office application suite that includes a full featured word processor.

As for not paying big cost? It's freeware. It only costs you whatever they're charging you for your internet connection and the time it takes staring at the screen as you download it. It's just under 140megs, which isn't huge by today's standards, but still pretty big (about 5 to 10 minutes depending on your connection speed). I doubt you'll get a better deal than that.
