If you like the status quo, let capitalism do its thing.
If you want something done...you need Government.
Thanks Brittany, but "too few meaningless slogans" is really a social problem.
GPS, jet aircraft, and teflon were all government innovations.
But the ATF can solve the problem of too many people with illegal guns.
So you have to go back to the industrial revolution to answer the question.

The average age a little before the industrial revolution was 35. Industry and competition improved living standards. There's not one democrat that wants to fully get rid of private industry and competition to some level....they understand that it does indeed solve a problem. It forces innovation. Now the levels and degrees of government involvement is really up to debate, but there's no question that without capitalism....there would be no high living standard.

I think you need to even out your view. If you think it's all government you're wrong....and if you're thinking we're all just crazy libertarians that don't want any government at all...you're wrong.

What was the last Social Problem in America that was solved by the Government?
Not unemployment, not the poor, or the homeless, not the war on drugs, not the education of our children and not the fat Americans!
You want something done? Don't get the Government involved!

The status quo is NOT capitalist. Far from it. Nor are we moving back towards any capitalist structure, and the economy is only getting worse.

Most of the social problems aren't "solved by the free market", they're CAUSED by the controlled market.
-Unemployment & jobs going overseas.
-Inflation
-Lower economic development and lower federal revenue.

Uh ... food?

You know, like when farmers grow stuff and sell it to us, so we can eat?

Not being able to eat is a big Social Problem.
