I'm asking because this girl always messages me when I open a tab for Facebook on Chrome. I don't know if it's just a coincidence or if she can see that I'm online

she can see that you are online of you start liking or commenting on things - she probably added you to her "close friends" list so she can get notified of all of your activity

to prevent it, add her to your restricted list
