How to rid Facebook friend requests? Not decline though just rid the notification from 'popping' up?

I have had some trouble, and cannot seem to get rid off the notifications from friend requests I receive on Facebook.
I do not want to decline the requests, I just get rid of the notification from appearing every time I log in.
Does anyone have solution or any ides to solve this issue?
This would be greatly appreciated.

go to account settings > privacy
under "Who can contact me?" "Who can send you friend requests?" select "Friends of Friends" it will reduce the amount of requests you will get. but not completely

fb have made changes with that and the friend request notification shouldnt be popping up anymore after youve clicked on the notification...this person/people who are sending friend requests are prob deleting their requests and re-requesting again to "jolt" you into trying to catch you on a day you will accept it...
