Why can't I follow my friend on instagram?

Why can't I follow my friend on instagram?
He follows me and sees all my photos but can not like them and I can not follow him back. Everytime I press follow it says "following" for about a second then the icon reverts back to tbe follow option. I don't believe either of us has the other blocked either? Please help.

That was happening to me too . I was trying to follow my sister but that thing wouldn't let me follow her until she fixed her settings . Idk how he did it but she told me she was messing around with the settings and now anyone can follow her

It probably means you reached your following limit within that hour. Wait a while and then try again.
