How come I don't get notified on Instagram that someone wants to follow me (Profile is set to private)?

I decided to change my instagram profile to private, and ever since then, I don't get notified when someone requests to follow me UNLESS, I personally click myself the comment thing and then it shows at the top? But nothing ever pops up like it used to when my profile was public? Does this happen to anyone else? or does it pop up for you when someone requests to follow you?

You Should Ge Notified That you have a Follower Request it May Be a Error With Instagram Check and See if there are any Updates Available If There Are any install them on your Phone if Not than Please Contact Instagram and Report the Problem to them
