can you prevent Facebook check ins from showing up as a story on your timeline?

Let's say you went some where with a few friends. You only want it to show up on your map, but you don't want a story to pop up on your timeline, is there any way to achieve this?

I try hiding the story, but that also hides the event on the map.

Select "Only Me" before you post the check-in.

Before you Post the Check In Just Change the Privacy Setting And That Should Do It it Mite Still Show on your Profile But Only you Would See it Nobody Else Would Be Able to See it
