In order to promote a website more it is important to have a blog join other blogs interact in Social marketing. Is it best to have different profiles. Real name and information. Which helps the most and what are the up and down sides to both?

Made up is better!
Pros - People can not identify you as easily Better for privacy
Cons - YOU may get confused

Real
Pros - If somone knows you on there they know it is you
Cons - less privacy identity problems

So fake is better!

Theres not that much wrong in putting your nickname ,because its not really anything that tells anyone who you are and depending on your nickname its propably already taken...

anyway I put my nick name as my nick on this site

A little of both. Use a "pen name" both for privacy and for branding considerations... you want the pen name to be memorable, and you'll want to use the same pen name on multiple blogs, preferably with the same mug shot for visual identification. Of course that has to be coupled with writing that is actually informative, entertaining, or both, and not something people will identify as spam, otherwise you're just building a negative image.
