How do you keep your Istagram private?

I'm wanting to make a secret Instagram that i do not want my facebook friends to find out about, so i can put up tihngs and vent about stuff i dont want them to know about. How do i keep them from finding me? I've tried before, i havent used facebook to sign in with it or used facebook for anything with it, but i still had friends who found me (i'm not even using my name). So how do i keep it private from them?

You have to go to your profile, select the gear in the upper right hand corner, and switch the "Photos are Private" to on.
