Sexual Liberation Oppresses Women?
The entire liberal school system has brainwashed the populace well, we are told that the sexual double standard oppressed women’s sexuality. That it was demeaning to women and that is why the sexual liberation was brought about. Today we see the results of this sexual liberation single mothers on welfare, women in their 30s looking for Mr. Right because they spent their 20s sleeping around with random men and getting a career. Rape, drug use, crime all these social ills are happening because of the breakdown of the society. This breakdown began in the family with the sexual liberation, which transpired into a complete collapse of patriarchal values, which protected women.

As Carolyn Graglia in her book “Domestic Tranquility” writes when talking about the sexual double standard she says “In the view of many women, acquiescence in this double standard which feminists attacked for inhibiting women’s sexual freedom always served women’s interests by helping them resist male pressure to engage in sexual activity they wished to avoid or postpone.” (157). Today no such barrier to protect women exists. Media, parents, and peers all say the same thing to the teenage girl. They tell her its okay to have sex with a boy she has been dating for a week as long as they use a condom. No one cares about the emotional attachment a girl might feel after the boy breaks up.

Men were infinitely more responsible for women's greater sexual freedom than feminists were. Most prominent feminists of that time were far from "sex positive" feminists.

It was men who developed the contraceptive pill. It was men who pressured women to take the pill. It was men who created all of the incentives for women to go toward the pill. It was men as well as women who wanted to diminish the risk of pregnancy. You could argue that men actually cared about preventing pregnancy more than women who were much of the time wanting to get pregnant so they can get married and escape their parents.

Feminists jumped on sexual liberation as a way to win the favor of more people who were buying into the "men are pigs and rapists" nonsense. It was PR and nothing more.

As far as having sex without thinking of the consequences goes, I think that this supposed double standard and sex positive feminists are somewhat to blame. Just look at these slut walks all over the US. Celebrating being slutty.

Guys don't high five each other for having sex with lots of different women. Guys who do that are viewed as creepy by most people. Feminists complaining about this double standard are ignoring the reality that men live in. And as a result they rationalize and enable this self destructive behavior.

I honestly don't think the 'love em and leave em' mindset is good for either gender. Not only do the women suffer with loneliness, and feeling used. Men do too. I think what is missing is love. People don't pay enough attention to what love is really all about.

The idea that sexual liberation oppresses women only makes sense if you believe women aren't capable of handling their own sexuality and need men to tell them what to do. I suspect, though, that this is what you actually believe.

I think you have to blame the "Make love, nor war" movement from the sixties, not feminism. As for "protection" - what a joke that is. You rely on a man to "protect" you, and he leaves you and your children, and somehow there is no protection.

And there was always little to protect women. Getting a career protects you from poverty, probably unwanted children and keeps them off welfare.
So much for feminism being the source of all the ills of the world.

We do need to teach our kids that children have needs and those needs have to be met. And that living in a council flat does not meet a child's needs.

Condemn our modern promiscuous society all you want. But for heaven's sake, stop talking about the "good old days" as though they existed.
