Has my mum's facebook been hacked?

My mum went onto her facebook and send me a message asking if i want anything to eat. But when she sent the message, it had completely changed; calling me a 'bloody idiot' and various other random words like; you're looking for a dollar. Etc. etc. When we tried to change her password, it said "your old password was typed incorrectly." We can't log out because then she wont be able to get back on with her password that has more than likely been changed. What can I do? I feel so bad because she loves talking to her friends and posting things on her facebook.

make a new account tell all her friends her others been hacked, and report the hacked one
