Unfriend on facebook is not working for me?

I tried to unfriend a guy on his birthday, but it's not working for me? What steps I take to ban/block him?

Go to his profile page, hover your mouse over the "Friends" button and click "Unfriend".
If it doesn't say "Friends" there, you've already done it.

Note that if a person has allowed followers, people they unfriend are going to be automatically converted into followers. So if it says "Following" there... Just hover over it and click "Unfollow".

If you really want to block him there's a "Report/Block" option on the same menu.
If you select that you won't be able to see him at all on Facebook anymore, and he won't be able to see you either.
