I have privately messaged somebody on facebook?
I privately messaged my brother-in-law with regard to his Mother (who in fact is the Mother-in-law from hell) basically venting my feelings and frustration after many years of bullying and telling him exactly what I think of her - which was not pleasant - now after calming down I am wondering can this be deemed as slander/libel here in the UK - again it was privately messaged and not on his actual facebook wall - serious answers only please - many thanks

Definitely not considered as slander. That is plain "bitching" or "venting". If it were deemed slander then there would be millions of pi**ed off family members in the courts attempting to sue. It can only be deemed slander if it is false information which is damaging to the person's reputation - so it would need to affect the way they regularly lead their lives i.e. if you were to slag her off to her boss which then resulted in her being fired. You're fine, let it all out.

There's no need to worry, it won't be deemed slander/libel.
