Someone sent me photos of them over skype and facebook kissing their boyfriend, so I took them and put them on youtube with a rap song. Is this illegal, they're threatning to call the cops on me.

Yes. They and/or the companies that run the websites own the copyright to the photos, not you.

Its not illegal because you can download the pictures from Facebook very easily and freely. Plus, if she added you on Facebook, she is giving you the right to see her pictures, because she didn't create any privacy for herself. There is nothing that can be done, unless you made her look like she committed an illegal act in the video or disgraced her reputation, there is nothing wrong with what you did, legally.

Friendship wise, well that's another story.

Police will do absolutely nothing because it's not a criminal offence, UNLESS they can prove you received the photograph illegally, or your posting constitute an abuse or harassment.

However, they can sue you for copyright infringement - which is a civil offence. Any photograph taken automatically has a copyright by the person who clicked the shutter. They can sue you for the cost of photograph - which is nothing....

By the way, if someone sent you a photograph of personal nature, it would be NICE of you to honor their request and remove the photograph or not use it for your personal purpose. It may be perfectly legal, but what you did isn't a nice thing to do. Law, after all, is a last stop, not the first.

If they were posted on Facebook then, according to the Terms agreed to when an account is set up, you are free to take them and do whatever you want with them.
