Yes, media does affect social reality, even when it is distorted. Some people believe everything they see or hear, while others search for the truth. Depending on what type of person you are, you will be affected or you will affect others.

my opinion would be the media distorts it. this is due to my understanding that it is an impossibility for any individual to report anything to anyone without adding there personal take either spoken or unspoken. a good for instance we heard much reporting over the years about the events unfolding in Iraq it is highly unlikely that any reports that they carried were ever an accurate portrait from the perspective of Saddem. I hear you say so what he was wrong, but I say not from his perspective and as well he was a key player.

In the same vein consider this most everyone considers hitler and evil bastard however napoleon is considered a glorious military hero.In fact both were meglamaniacal war mongers and cold blooded murderers all that really separates them is a hand full of year which is enough to take napoleon out of living memory and to sanitize him. I hope you get what I am saying here it has profound implications not only in this narrow avenue but as regards all of our lives
