Would you like to privatize social security?
How would you like to be getting ready to retire in 5-10 years and have the stock market crash like it has recently? To me it seems far fetched to put in jeopardy a life's time of hard work and see it all wiped away. With all of the demands of keeping up to date with job changes and education, why should we also have to be burdened with a worry of how to manage a retirement account?

~~No, it's a horrible idea, and the stock market right now is further proof! Since there must be some income of certainty, then it needs to remain as is, with one exception. The government should never, ever be able to put their greedy fingers on our money and spend it as they have done, right down to nearly bankrupting the system. Just another crime being committed against the taxpayers~~

No. I believe that the current stock market situation will put the idea of privatizing Social Security to rest.

I think it should be a choice. Those educated enough would be handle their own finances better than the govt.

Absolutely yes. Right now, we don't have a choice.

Privatizing Social Security, transforming it from an unfunded pay-as-you-go system to a system of mandatory private savings accounts, would solve both of those problems and increase economic growth.

Under the current Social Security system, each generation now and in the future loses the difference between the return to real capital that would be obtained in a funded system and the much lower return in the existing unfunded program. Shifting to a privatized system of individual mandatory accounts that can be invested in a mix of stocks and bonds would permit individuals to obtain the full real pretax rate of return on capital. This would mean a larger capital stock and a higher national income.

No, I would like to return it to the program it was when it started. The Democrats have ruined it and caused it to go broke. They raised the retirement age, spent the money in the trust fund, and given benefits to people who never paid in a dime. If social security was taken away from the Congress, it would thrive and provide older people who worked and paid into it, with a darn good retirement.

Not at all. The only reason to privatize social security, is to drive up the stock market, which is what would occur when the large influx of cash hits the market.Use your head- no one cares if you have a dime to retire on, they just care if the stocks keep going up.This will benefit the rich investment crowd on wall street, and the in crowd that manipulates the stock market.
