Facebook account creation help...?
My mom wont let me make an actual facebook account... (Not my real name, no photos of myself etc.)
So I came up with a plan, make a fake facebook account. I wanted to create one that would make my friends and I laugh; thus I came up with the name "Fancy Bread". I took a picture of a piece of bread with a moustache and monocle on it and planned to use it as my profile picture... unfortunately Facebook will not accept the name "Fancy Bread". How can I get around this issue...?
I never said I was doing this behind my mothers back, in fact I asked for her permission before I even navigated to the account creation page. I am seventeen years old and I can assure you, I am more than mature enough to handle having a facebook account. My mother said that in order for me to have a facebook account, it had to be a fake name, and I could not upload any pictures of myself, i agreed to her terms.

So what you really want to do is make a Facebook account behind your mother's back so you can use it to talk to your friends. Just by this "idea" of yours, I can see why your mom doesn't want you to have a Facebook account; you're really not mature enough to handle it.

This is a terrible idea. When your mom finds out, she will lose her trust that she has in you and you will spend a great deal of time trying to get it back.

Now, on the off chance that your mom agreed to this little scheme, there are other ways to do this. If she doesn't want you using your real name, shorten it (example: Real name of Joseph Cosmopolitan can be shortened to "Joe Kozmo") and you can tell your friends who to add to their friends list. Facebook doesn't require that you post pictures of yourself, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Your mom is worried that you will not be able to use Facebook responsibly. Read the article that I reference with her and see if the two of you can come up with a compromise to the rules it talks about. Facebook can be safe, but you need to be smart. You also need to tell your friends that THEY are not to post pictures of you or say your real name on their walls either.

Good luck.
