My parents are making me choose between an iPhone or a new TV?

This sounds like a really conceited, first world problem kind of question, but I haven't had a "big" Christmas in a few years. My family is always moving and we're finally settling somewhere so we have the money this year for one "big" present for everyone.

My TV just blew out about a month ago. It wasn't even a year old. Right now, I'm using a smaller, more outdated TV but it's nothing too bad. I don't mind it at all actually.

I have a super old LG flip phone and I like the idea of Instagram and I just enjoy Apple products in general. My iPod broke a few months ago too.

So, sorry to sound so selfish, but which one sounds better in the long-run to get?

I think that if you very carefully re-read your question,
you'll see that you would be happier with the iPhone.

Why an iPhone? Why not a Galaxy S3 or Nexus 4? Or maybe the new Droid DNA? But between a smartphone and a new TV, definitely go with the smartphone especially if your parents will be paying the monthly bill.
