How can I make it so someone cannot see that I am in a relationship on Facebook without blocking them?

I just got in a relationship with a girl here at college and I don't want a friend back home to know because they would get really mad because she really likes me. I want to put it on Facebook without her finding out, and also without blocking her or defriending her. Is there any way to do that?

If you're talking about a relationship status, then here would be the steps to hide it from people:

1.Go to "Update Info" that is next to your profile picture.
2. Go to basic information and click "Edit"
3. Scroll down to your relationship status and right next to that, you should find that little earth button.
4. By clicking on this button, this allows you to set it to who can see the status. Since you don't want her to see it, click on "Custom" and type her name under "Don't share this with".
