Does instagram automatically connect to Facebook?

I have instagram, but I use it more for this online socializing app I have where you talk to people all over the world and raise stats. So I use it so I can see the people/share screen shots/and so on. Well, I REALLY don't want anybody I know in real life to find out about my instagram. So, will my instagram connect to my facebook without me allowing it to? Please help.|:

It doesn't connect to or post any of your photos/information to Facebook unless you allow it to! Although Facebook did buy Instagram, it still doesn't do that.
