Why do we say hashtag instead of pound?
It took my 17 years to adjust to saying dot instead of point, how long will it take me to give up on saying pound?

Pound has several symbols and abbreviations.
Lb, £, or ₤ Hashtag has come to mean one specific symbol. It is now used that way because it is specific and not ambiguous. |
