To wake up, you don't just need to open your eyes/eyelids. Some people who sleep walk open they're eyes but guess what? they're still asleep. So here's the thing, specifically you would still need to wake up. In order to do that you need to 'open' your sleeping brain, then your eyelids, then the door.

It says in the riddle that " the doorbell rings and you wake up", most people open their eyes when they wake up, so your eyes are most likely already open at the point in the narrative at which it asks you the question.

So yes, I argue that you are correct with door.

for those that say you're awake at 3am I often am too but the question actually says "and you wake up." so the door bell rings you wake up and open your eyes.
