The most horrendous negative aspect of cell phones is what I see every day on public transport. Parents who are so busy with their cell phones they have no time for interaction with their very young children. We learn socialisation through interaction with other. These children have no eye contact with their carers, no smiles of encouragement, no conversation. How on earth are they supposed to learn social niceties. A further concern is how the child will look around the crowd, desperate for eye contact with someone, with anyone who will give them some one-to-one attention.
It is the same with social media networks. No one-to-one real interaction. Just a blank screen where the worst excesses of behaviour can be displayed.
As with any advance, we can use or abuse the facility. It is down to each individual at the end of the day.
