I've also experienced this problem and I use an apple product as well (iPod). Mines occurs when i'm just on the app browsing. It just randomly exits out by itself. I've come to realize that when that occurs it means that their are millions of people on IG at one time and it is incapable of functioning correctly since over 2 million people are using the app. The IG team is in the process of trying to stop this happening. I have noticed that it doesn't do it as often as it use to a few months back but that's the best answer I could give you and I hoped it was beneficial. :-)
