What happens when you write mean things on Facebook?

Can they turn you in to the law or something? One of my friends wrote some mean stuff to this actress using my profile name, she's kind of unknown and just a theatre performer in West End theatre so I believe she read it herself, and now my profile is on ignore from her before I could explain it wasn't me but someone else. But what can they do to you though? Is it illegal?

In th ephilippines yes you cant do that but it will be hard for police to find you there because you dont write your adress. I fu want to be mean dont name anyone!
