how do you know if a celebrity on Facebook is fake?
How do you know if a celebrity on Facebook is fake? What are ways to know whether they are real or fake? If they have over a thousand friends (including other celebrities) does that tell you they are fake? I see profiles with pictures of them with their family but I know impersonators can obtain those photos. Does how famous they are make a difference? What are the odds of an actor or actress that is not famous having a real Facebook profile? I would appreciate as many answers as possible, thanks!

If they are really famous and it is really them, then there is a blue check mark next to their name when you go to their profile. If they are less famous, then they could still be real but have no check mark next to their name. For instance, a Channing Tatum page that is really him would have a check mark next to his name. But on the other hand, a Hopsin page (Hopsin is a rapper) does not have the check mark even though it is actually him. So really you can only tell if the celebrity is famous.

if they are a well known celeb they have a fan page that their PR agency overseas -the celeb doesn't even access the page. If a celeb has their own page its usually under a fake name and they do not accept people they don't know as friends
A good friend of mine is an actor - he's not super famous but he did star in a sitcom that ran for 2 seasons a few years back and has been in movies with both Tom Hanks and Drew Barrymore so people know his face if they might not know his name. He has a fan page with about 8000 likes, but his real profile doesn't use his real name - it's his first name and his mother's maiden name. His profile picture is of his dog. He doesn't accept friend requests from anyone he doesn't personally know on is personal account - that's because even lesser known celebs can have stalkers Another friend of mine is a singer who was in a band in the early 90s and again, she has a fan page for fans of her music, but her personal page uses an alias and only accepts friends that she knows, not random fans. |
