Facebook groups for class support?

I want to create a Facebook group for my class to give them suggested modules for correcting observed error trends. I have my reasons for doing it this way. But I do not want to add these people as friends. Facebook won't let me create the group without adding friends. None of my friend list members are my students and I intend to keep it that way. Am I just out of luck? How do other people create groups without making members their friends?
