Did Facebook change how Blocking Works Recently?

I'm unsure if I'm still blocked by a person on Facebook. When I look at our past conversation, I now see the the person's profile picture THUMBNAIL. In the past, like a few weeks ago - it was default facebook picture for his gender. However, I still cannot click on his picture, or check his profile.

Am I still blocked? Did Facebook just let you see the thumbnail pictures of those who have blocked you?

Or am I unblocked but the person's privacy settings is preventing me from contacting them?

Yes, you're still block, yhe name still in black, but now Facebook show th thumbnail prof-pic.
