How do I prepare for a job interview?
Tomorrow I will be attending my first real job interview. I've only ever worked as a musician and at music venues promoting and organising events, running festivals, running music workshops etc... I've been 'Self-employed' until now.
I must be honest - I'm hugely under-qualified for the job I've applied for, as they requested a bachelor's degree, and I only have 3 GCSEs, however they are A's and an A* and I have a lot experience in the field.

Here is the job description:
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, as the Marketing Assistant you will be responsible for providing online marketing support and driving PR activity, including media relations, internal communications, case studies and much more.

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintaining social media platforms
· Writing blog content, contributing to content strategy
· Working with 3rd party agencies - design, PR
· PR duties, such as writing press releases and features, reporting
· Producing marketing collateral
· Assisting with email marketing campaigns

Essential skills/experience/qualifications:

· Strong understanding on Social Networks
· Some marketing and/or PR experience
· Exceptional writing and proofreading skills
· An understanding of, and ideally, experience of writing online copy
· Strong Excel and analysis skills
· A CIM or CIPR qualification would be beneficial
· A professional telephone manner

Equally as important is a 'can do' attitude, proactive approach and ability to work on your own initiative. Getting the job completed, and to a high standard, is a key driver and as such, you should be flexible and a team player.

What should I expect from tomorrow? Any tips?
Thank you Smile x

Writing a press release is not easy. The purpose of a press release is to give media professionals and journalists information that is useful, accurate and interesting. When you send a press release out, the goal is to attract favourable media attention. To ensure that your goals for writing a press release are met, you have to ask yourself if your news is really news because there is often a fine line between news and sensation, and the last thing you want is for the reader to dismiss your press release.

A few things to remember

1. Ensure that the resume has been checked for typos and is structured in a way that makes it easy to read. Highlight your skills and experience relevant to the job.

2. Interviews are used as a tool of judging whether you fit the job as well as the company.

3. Know yourself, inside out. Only when you understand yourself completely can you make the panel understand you.

4. Take time to understand how you want to project yourself during the interview.

5. Everything you say or do makes an impression whether positive or negative. Be it the way you sit, the way you talk or your choice of clothing. Everything matters!

6. Remember, an Interview is like a sales pitch in many ways. So ensure that you present yourself well.

All the best for your interview.
