Samsung Facebook app update?

When ever I open up Facebook, on my Samsung Exhilarate, there is a box that says I need to update the app in order to continue viewing news feed. I tap on update, opens up Google Play, tap on update app and yet when I open Facebook the same update box opens up. Again I go to Google Play only its says the app has been installed. I did a restart and even removed the battery. Samsung had me do all sorts of stuff including removing the cache and data. There last resort was to remove all info, I know this is not the right term, and this would remove all my personal stuff. No way. Anyone have a suggestion?? I can't seem to figure out how to get hold of anyone at Google Play. It just directs me back to Samsung. Delete app and reinstall??

That's what I would do. Re-install facebook altogether.
