Tagging means to "tag" someone to a post or status update. When that person is tagged, they will receive a notification that you tagged them in your post.

For example, your post might be:
@John Smith and I had a fun time today.

When you submit this update, John Smith's name will appear as a link, and John will be notified that he tagged you in your post.

A timeline is one of Facebook's recent updates to your profile page. Basically it's just a way to display the various posts/updates/events that happen to you. For example, if you become friends with Alice Doe, then on your timeline, perhaps a post saying you became friend with Alice Doe will appear. Since this is a timeline, newer events get posted towards the top.

The smartest thing you can do is instantly deactivate your account and never go on Facebook again. If you stay on it too long, it will drag you in, and you'll never be able to quit.

Tagging is just adding a person into a picture or status so they will be notified whenever someone comments
