Does economic freedom and social freedom intertwine?
I'm a libertarian so i believe you cannot have one without the other, therefore:

Gays need rights
pro-choice
public schools must be secular

but also

regulation on business must be kept to a minimum to allow the free market to work

What do you guys think?

Yes absolutely.

It would be a lot easier to get there if you stop giving the goverment dominion over all aspects of society. For example I see no reason at all why the government needs to sanction marriage in the first place. For some ppl its a religious act, for some its not however as long as its between 2 consenting ppl there is no reason anyone should have to "run it by the government" for approval.

You raise a very good point in regards to rights. The first question you have to answer is, "Who gives us our rights"? Is it the government? If so, do you believe in temporary rights? As we all have seen with all of the crazy governmental actions of late, the government can give and take rights depending on who is making the decision. So, are rights something that come and go based on Political party? Or are they rights that all people should have for ever? Obviously, where I'm coming from is American Rights ( unlike all of history ) come from God, per our Constitution. They are permanent and can not be taken away by any one. Also, NOTHING in the Constitution says the Government can not be involved in Religion. That is reinforced In the Constitution via all of the references to God. What the Constitution actually says is the government Can Not tell anyone what religion ( if any) you and I choose to follow. Quite a difference then what we see in today's society, which includes our schools. Pro-choice? once again the government can't require anyone to violate their own principles. So if someone believes its OK to end a life before it has a chance to live, so be it. What no one usually wants to address is the MILLIONS of unborn children that have been eliminated. How can that be viewed as a good or just action? I will agree that government has piled way to much regulation on business. Anyone who doesn't understand a large part of our unemployment problem is due to government involvment and all of the uncertainty created in the market place by a government is missing a key point in today's world.

What exactly do you consider regulation on business?

Because for me, regulation on business includes making sure they're paying all of their people equally and treating them fairly.
No more of this BS about men making more than women, no more BS about whites making more than blacks making more than hispanics.
No more of this BS about employers being able not to hire homosexuals.
No paying people minimum wage for a full time job that is not minimum wage work.

Regulation to me means making sure they aren't tossing their trash into the rivers, and polluting our air.
Because I don't know about you, but I'd rather be able to breath the air around me and know that it isn't going to kill me.
I'd rather be able to go fishing or even swimming in the local river without having to get a tetanus shot.

Regulation for me means making sure that businesses aren't screwing people over, be it their own employees or customers.

If you do not regulate business, then big corporations get consideration before what people believes matters.
Corporations start becoming people.
We need to regulate business, because if we don't they will pursue profit and give everyone else the middle finger.
As they have done in the past and continue to do.
