Is it worth it opeing up a facebook account?
I just turned 24 and have never been a fan of social networking. I had facebook for about a year, 3 years ago. It was more trouble then its worth.

My friends been pressuring to open one up again.

I mean, I much prefer to hang out, talk on the phone, email and text (which I am not a big fan of either). And I do GREAT without it, I meet people without it, I hangout with everyone that I like, keep in touch with all that matters.

So is it worth it to have this added distraction in my life?

I would appreciate your inputs.

Thanks,
No I am single as of few months ago. Meeting girls is one of the reasons my friends (girls and guys) want me to have it. And when I meet girls in the real world they ask for facebook info and stuff, when I tell them I don't have one, they're usually surprised (which I find very amusing btw).

Stay off it. I also had it for 4+ years and decided to come off it since early this year. I've never been back. There are much better ways to keep in touch and people are so fake and superficial on facebook, you can do without it and are surely better off without it.

I've never had a facebook page and I've never wanted one either so maybe I'm biased but I think if you really want to stay in touch with someone you can easily do it by phone and therefore have no need for facebook. Plus since you've already had a page and had to close it or whatever, it was obviously more trouble than it was worth so don't let your friends pressure you into doing something you don't really want to do.

U can meet more people
U can see what they are up to
U can learn more and more about a person u may like

Those reasons would be good to have fb

If you don't want to learn about other people and already have a gf lol stay off it

I feel the same as you.
I have never had Facebook - and the sun still came up this morning.

I meet people in the real world.

No it's not. Facebook does nothing but steal and sell. I don't understand why people continue to use it... no matter how great a social network is, it will never compare to face to face interaction. We have emails and phones to keep in touch with people, we don't need facebook at all, it's caused more damage than good, facebook just wants your information to make money, it doesn't care about your social life.

You can meet people elsewhere, there are other social networks that are actually better than facebook because there's less drama and no bull with privacy. Facebook's privacy policy really sucks.

Facebook doesn't make it easier to connect with people, it just steals your information for it's own use and that's it. That is why we have something called a mobile phone, the purpose of mobiles is to keep in touch with people, the purpose of facebook is not.

Do you really want to add yet more money to the coffers of the billionaire who created it for all the suckers out there? I for one do not and it has caused a lot of trouble for some of my family members who foolishly have got involved. As someone else has already written, the owners don't care a jot as they continue to rake in loads of dosh from all and sundry.
