Is blocking on Facebook more severe then deleting you?

Is blocking on Facebook more severe then deleting you?
A girl actually blocked me on Facebook because I sent her a couple messages. Instead of her deleting me, she actually blocked me. Why is that? I only sent her a couple messages and told her it was great meeting her and I hope to talk soon.

The fact she blocked me instead of just deleting me or ignoring my messages, is it more severe? When someone blocks you on Facebook, is it worse than just defriending you? What is the difference in reasoning to delete someone on Facebook and to go to the extreme to actually block you? How do people decide what is better for them? What reasons would you block someone and what reasons would you just delete them to not go to the point to actually block them? I guess if someone just deleted you, they still aren’t prohibiting you to message them or to at least see their profile but when they block you, they really don’t want anything to do with you! Am I right?

Well...
Deleting just removes them from your contact list (you can still message them and interact with them in some apps)
Blocking basically removes the ability for you to see them at all on your Facebook. You can't message them, you can't see their profile, you can't tag them or anything like that.

In conclusion: Blocking is more severe than deleting.

Have a good day! Smile

EDIT:
I would block someone if they were constantly spamming me, messaging me or being rude/disrespectful.
When they block you they get the option to report the abuser to Facebook and the authorities if harassment is being committed.
