Facebook cover photo...?
I wanted to put a picture of my niece and I as my facebook cover photo but I'm not sure if it would be okay since its public, everyone can see the picture maybe even save it to their computer... She's two years old. Should I put the picture or put something else?

I wouldn't be too concerned about others being able to see your profile picture as much as I would be worried about the other types of information you post on your Facebook profile. There are plenty of privacy settings offered by Facebook to help keep your information secure. If you keep your settings up to date you should be fine, but if you have ANY doubts the best bet is to just find another picture and maybe put the one you like in a frame inside your house somewhere.

Alice, you are right in being concerned enough to ask this question. You show that you care about your niece by being worried about her privacy.

The truth is, is that it really isn't up to you. You need to ask the parent's of the child. Ultimately, it is their decision.

I highly doubt they would have an issue with you using the photo, especially since most new parents post millions upon millions of photos of their babies all over Facebook anyways. Even so, it would still be a good idea for you to at least ask. They will most likely say it is fine, and then you have nothing to worry about. Afterwards, they will be glad you asked, and it will show them that you really, truly care about your niece!

Never post a child's picture anywhere on line without the parents' permission. Even with permission, it's not a good idea to post kids' pictures because there are some pretty crazy people out there.

Even if the picture is just showing a cute little girl, someone else might see it differently (even if it's just her face). It's unfortunate that we have to think like this, but, this is a whole new world we live in.
