What is E3 and What Is It For?

I keep hearing all of this talk about E3 in the gaming community, it was trending on twitter, and people are posting YouTube videos with E3 gameplay. Also, all of this Sony E3, Wii E3, and Xbox E3 stuff is so confusing. Could someone please explain what E3 is and what it's purpose is because I'm very confused on all of this...Please be specific too. Thank You.

E3 Basically the Superbowl for Electronics, it stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo, everything from video games, to consoles, to new tech toys is announced here, very big event. Basically an expo to show off electronics about to be released by companies in the next year.

E3 stands for: Electronic Entertainment Expo.
It's an event where developers have a chance to show off new games and products in the field of electronic entertainment.

E3 means...Electronic Entertainment Expo.....this company do reviews and other stuff to advertise games for all concolos..

E3 ( electronic entertainment expo) is an event which happens every year once a year for only a couple of days in LA where game company show new games and consoles for the first time and it where they give out the awards for games
