Facebook wont let me change my relationship status!?

My boyfriend and I are trying to change our relationship statuses. but when I try to add him in the relationship change it says that hes already in a relationship when both of our profiles say single. Im super frustrated!!

it is strange and shouldn't be happened. But it is so then follow these steps:
logout and then logged-in and try to change,
if above step didn't work then unfriend your boyfriend and then try again
