I want to send someone a request on Facebook but don't know if I should do it or not?

I have graduated from school now and I really wanna send a friend request to this teacher on Facebook she is really nice and always helped me. On my last day she got me a good luck card and I gave her a thankyou card with a present. The reason why I don't know if I should do it or not is that no one is friends with her even previous years. Shall I give it a try or not

Yeah, I've got a few old teachers on there, it's good to keep in contact with them if they're someone you don't want to forget. They'll be able to accept you as well because you're no longer their student.
