Picture strip on Facebook?

When im on facebook, i like to see the most recent things that happen. With this new design, there's this cover photo on the top of my newsfeed of pictures of my added friends. To my dismay, it ususally shows pictures from people ive hidden from my newsfeed. I hid them for a reason, and it aggravates me that they still show up in my feed. Any way to control what pictures come up? Thanks!
