Why are people looking for followers on instagram?
For example: Why do people need 12k followers on instagram when they can have their friends to follow them? Is it pointless to get followers, or are they looking for money?

I don't believe it is people, I think it is teens, they seem to care how many FB "friends" they have, can you really know most of 920 people. Same for YouTube channels, I think it is so they feel like they have a like of something.
