Is asking a girl out on facebook considered not as meaningful or silly?

I know the girl we met on a camp out but I don't have her number but just added her on Facebook. We talked and i'm interested in getting to know her more and asking her out but since I don't have her number was wondering if it was silly or not as meaningful to ask her via Facebook. thoughts?

Well, next time you talk tell her your thinking of asking her out. Also tell her that since you haven't got her phone you're asking her from there. If she agrees, then ask her to give it to you so as to arrange from it.
